The Optimist Club of Calgary is again sponsoring an Essay Scholarship Contest for the 2024-25 school year. The contest is open to students who are under 19 years of age on October 1, 2024. Students must write a 700-to-800-word essay on the topic “How Optimism Has Paved My Road to Success” and submit it by January 6th, 2025.
CONTEST APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED STARTING NOVEMBER 15TH, 2024
Entries will be accepted on a first-come basis until January 6th, 2025 using the contest application form in the link below. The contest will have a maximum of ten contestants. Entries for the contest should be submitted by e-mail to Bob Steele (Essay and Oratorical Contest Chair) at ironmanb@telusplanet.net with the Subject “Essay Contest”. The entry must include a completed application form, signed by the entrant and his/her parent, a copy of proof of age, and a brief statement of the school, and grade attended.

Optimist International sponsors the Essay contest to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal experience, the experience of their country, or a more historical perspective. In addition to developing written expression skills, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship.
