SUMMARY:Volunteer Opportunity - Stephen’s Backpacks\, Discovery House Activity Saturday April 12th
DESCRIPTION:Attention Optimists!  Here’s a Great Volunteer Opportunity for you.                  \nStephen’s Backpacks Society is looking for 10 – 15 volunteers to help on Saturday\, April 12th\, 2025\, from 9 AM to approximately 3 PM. \nStephen’s Backpacks is partnering with Discovery House to provide accommodation for a Mom with 4 kids (ages 8\, 5\, 4\, 2).  Stephen’s Backpacks will purchase everything to make the house a home (kitchen items\, food\, dishes\, bedroom\, living room furniture/bedding towels\, curtains\, clothing\, haircut certificates for the family\,  etc.).  What they are looking for is a large group of volunteers to tackle each room along with Steven’s Backpack group to set up\, assemble furniture\, hang curtains\, and put dishes\, etc. in cupboards.  Making it a home.  It will be a reveal to the Mom and kids\, but we do not meet the family. \nWe will provide the address of the home where this volunteering opportunity will occur as soon as it has been given to us. \nFood and refreshments will be served. \nINTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING? \nIf you are interested in volunteering as outlined above\, RSVP to Cheryl Isnor at cbolton4@telus.net or Bill Campbell at billcampbell001@gmail.com by no later than Monday\, April 7th\, 2025. \nINTERESTED IN DONATING? \nIf you are interested in donating either new or used household items\, please click on the link below to view the list of items that are needed: \n\nCLICK HERE =>  List of Furniture Needs and Supplies for Discovery House Clients\n\nYou can also make a financial donation to support purchasing household items for the mother and her family by logging onto the Stephen’s Backpacks website\, making a tax-deductible donation\, and mentioning it is for “the family from Discovery House” in the ‘additional comments’ section on the donations page which can be found by clicking on the link below: \n\nCLICK HERE =>  Stephens Backpacks Donation Website:   (Donations will receive a charitable donation tax receipt)\n\n  \nWHAT DOES DISCOVERY HOUSE DO? \nDiscovery House provides safe housing and essential support for families with children who are leaving domestic violence as they transition out of short-term emergency shelters and are referred to us for longer-term support.  For more information\, CLICK HERE \nWHAT DOES STEPHEN’S BACKPACKS DO? \nChildren who are happy and not in distress have been shown to improve their learning capacity and perform better in school.
