Monthly Club Meeting Tuesday September 9th – Nikhil Srivalsan Guest Speaker

Location: Limerick’s Traditional Pub, 7304 Macleod Trail, Calgary, Alberta, on the main floor (private meeting room).

Parking:  Free parking is available at the back of the restaurant.

  • Tuesday food and drink specials include a AAA Steak Sandwich for $12.99 and local YYC draught beer (18 oz) for $7.25.  Happy/Appy Hour from 2 PM to 6 PM.

Guest Speaker – Nikhil Srivalsan:  Biomedical Sciences Student | Health Equity Advocate | Social Entrepreneur | Avenue Magazine’s “2025 Top 20 Under 20 Winner” | 2021 AMS&NW District Scholarship Contest 3rd Place Winner

  • Nikhil Srivalsan is a biomedical sciences student at the University of Calgary, passionate about advancing health sustainability and reducing inequities through research and civic engagement. With a strong interest in bioinformatics and computational biology, he aims to help transform healthcare into a more patient-centered, data-driven system.  Beyond academics, Nikhil is deeply involved in mentorship, community outreach, and leadership. He volunteers with organizations such as Woods Home for Foster Children, supports seniors in long-term care, and tutors marginalized students through Connect Tutoring.  He also conducts independent research in liver cancer and stroke, and co-founded the UCalgary chapter of Kiva to promote social entrepreneurship through microfinancing.
  • Whether hosting podcasts with notable alumni or leading fundraising initiatives, Nikhil grounds his work in service and impact.  His long-term goal is to uplift underserved communities while continuously growing as a changemaker.

Discussion Topic – He will share how his experience in the Optimist Club of Calgary Oratorical Contest for several years helped shape his preparation for a future career. He will also offer insights into his current career plans and highlight the projects he is actively working on.
