Monthly Club Meeting Wednesday April 10th – NOTE NEW RESTAURANT

Attention Optimist Members!

Join us for our upcoming monthly meeting where you will have a chance to socialize with other members, have a meal, and listen to an informative guest speaker.  Members can attend in person or via ZOOM.  Please note, that we will be going to a new restaurant mentioned below.

Location:  4th Spot Kitchen & Bar – 2620 4 St NW, Calgary, AB.   Parking is available in front of the restaurant on the street.

• Wing Wednesdays: $10 for a pound of wings
• Happy Hour:  Available between 2 PM and 5 PM

Please Note:  Because our group size is over 6 people, the restaurant will automatically add an 18% gratuity to each bill

Guest Speaker:  Rabbi Mark Glickman

• Rabbi Mark is the spiritual leader of Temple B’nai Tikvah in Calgary, Alberta. He is the author of Sacred Treasure: The Cairo Genizah (Jewish Lights, 2011) and Stolen Words: The Nazi Plunder of Jewish Books (JPS, 2016), and is currently writing a book about the Jewish calendar

Discussion Topic:  After the Attack, During the War: Recollections and Reflections from a Recent Trip to Israel

• In November 2023, Rabbi Mark traveled to Israel with several of his colleagues as the only Canadian member of a rabbinic solidarity mission – his group was one of the first such delegations to visit the country after the October 7 attacks. In his talk, Rabbi Glickman will share some of what he experienced during that trip, along with some reflections on the current war in Gaza.  To learn more about his trip, CLICK HERE.
